March 2007

Dear Friend,
God is always at work in our lives. But sometimes, we can only see His divine
intervention in retrospect…

“Kelly’s” appointment was one of those moments. She had first visited the Crisis
Pregnancy Centers several months ago asking for a pregnancy test and sonogram. She left unsure whether she would choose life. Like many young women in Kelly’s situation, her cell phone was disconnected and we had no way to follow up with her.
When Kelly returned to the center a few days ago, we were overjoyed to see her. Now eight months pregnant, she had come in to ask for maternity clothes. She was on her way to California and wanted to look her best. Eager to help, we offered Kelly not only maternity clothes but a layette for her baby.

At that moment, Kelly’s lips began to quiver and the smile she had used to mask her
pain gave way to tears. Our counselor held Kelly in her arms as Kelly told us the real story. Working through a private attorney, Kelly had chosen to place her baby for adoption. She was traveling to California to meet the couple who was adopting her daughter. The attorney Kelly was working with had not referred her to a counselor. As a result, Kelly was suffering with feelings of ambivalence and grief as her due date and the impending adoption grew near.

Our counselor knew that Kelly’s appointment for maternity clothes was actually a divine appointment orchestrated by God. With great compassion, our counselor began to address Kelly’s hurt and unresolved feelings. She was able to share with Kelly her own experience of adopting a son and how this precious boy had blessed her life. This story opened the door to discussing how each of us is adopted into the family of God.
Kelly asked our counselor to pray with her so she, too, could become a part of God’s
family through Jesus Christ. And Kelly was grateful for the on-going counseling services we were able to arrange for her. She left that day with so much more than maternity clothes. Kelly left with healing and newfound hope for her future.
What about you? What about your divine appointments?

The fact that you’re reading this letter is not a coincidence. Through Kelly’s story, God is linking your heart to the heart of another hurting young woman. And together, through our prayers and financial support, we can link the hurting heart of a woman like Kelly to the loving heart of our Heavenly Father.

Today, I’m asking you to see this letter through the eyes of God. I’m asking you to see it as another divine appointment in your life. And I’m asking you to invest both your prayers and your financial support into the ministry of the Crisis Pregnancy Centers today.

Your generous financial investment means we can offer young women like Kelly
pregnancy tests, sonograms, maternity clothing, counseling, life skills classes, and other practical resources. Your prayers offer the divine grace women like Kelly need to experience the healing and hope of Jesus Christ.

Along with your prayers and financial support, I’m asking you to share something else
with the Crisis Pregnancy Centers...

I’m asking you to share a story with us about a divine appointment in your own life. We want to be able to tell others how God is always working in our lives and how He uses seemingly ordinary circumstances to intersect our humanity with His holiness. We’ll be sharing some of these stories in our next newsletter so others can be encouraged by God’s amazing grace.

Thank you for investing your prayers and financial support into the ministry of the Crisis Pregnancy Centers. It is your faithfulness that allows us to be the hands of Christ extended to the hurting within our community. And thank you for also sharing your own story of a divine appointment. Together, our lives can be used by God to link the hearts of the hurting to His own loving heart!

God bless you,
John Tabor
