It’s a new year full of new possibilities, opportunities, and memories-in-the-making. Kind of reminds me of new life!
Each time I look into the eyes of one of the babies born through the Crisis Pregnancy Centers, I’m reminded of how bright the future looks. But I’m equally aware of the challenges and choices involved in bringing new life and new possibilities into the world.
Last year was certainly an example of facing challenges with faith. In the midst of one of the most difficult economic times in modern history, the ministry of the Crisis Pregnancy Centers grew. This growth was supported and made possible by friends like you – and I am so grateful! Because of your generosity, more than 1,000 babies were born because of our ministry. More than 300 women made decisions to follow Christ. And because of you, more than XX,XXX client visits were possible.
Already, 2009 is presenting continuing opportunities to share a message of life with our community. But as is true with all opportunities, there are challenges to be overcome.
Many of you have heard how Planned Parenthood is offering gift certificates at many of their locations. I cannot imagine a parent or boyfriend giving a young girl one of these certificates as a gift – but it is happening. All the more reason for the Crisis Pregnancy Centers to open wide our doors and hearts to young women in crisis!
The economic difficulties facing our nation become real through the lives of those we serve. The choice to bring life into the world as a result of an unplanned pregnancy is difficult, even under the best of circumstances. But the added financial stress and uncertainty facing many young women means our message of life is needed more than ever before!
This New Year offers great opportunities for the Crisis Pregnancy Centers! But it will take you – your prayers and financial support – to turn challenge into opportunity. I have no doubt that, with God’s grace, we can do it!

It’s A New Day
More than 49 million lives have been lost to abortion since Roe v. Wade. These lives will be remembered on the National Sanctity of Life Day, January 18, 2009. It is important that we remember these lives… honor them… pray for them. But it is equally important for us to do something else; something more…
Just two days after we commemorate the sanctity of life, we will witness the swearing in of our new president. The election is over and the votes have been counted. Whether we voted for our new president or not, we are called – even commanded by scripture – to pray for President-elect Obama and the leaders of our country.
At the Crisis Pregnancy Centers, we will be praying for our new president and leaders of our country. Each of them needs the grace and guidance of God during the extraordinary times facing our country. Each also needs to see with God’s eyes the lives impacted by the decisions our leaders will be required to make.
Please join the Crisis Pregnancy Centers in making National Sanctity of Life Day a call to prayer. Offer a heartfelt cry to God for His mercy and spirit to guide our leaders. Ask God to grant our new president and cabinet members, our senators and congressmen and women, and local authorities heavenly wisdom and discernment. Pray also that hearts and eyes will be open to see that every life – even the lives of the unborn – are precious and deserving of protection and respect.

A Double Blessing
Alicia’s story makes the scripture, “All things work together for good,” come to life! If you would have met her last year, however, you would have seen a very different picture…
