Volunteer Profile

If you’ve ever wondered about the power of one person to make a lasting difference in life, look no further than Lacy Benson. Now a pastor’s wife, mother, and volunteer President of the Crisis Pregnancy’s Center’s Board of Directors, Lacy remembers when life was very different.

As a young girl, Lacy’s parents divorced. She was devastated, but God brought Christian adults into her life. Through their love and example, Lacy became the first person in her family to accept Christ as her Lord. And as she continued to live her life for Christ, others began to notice.

Years later, Lacy’s two brothers came to know the Lord, as did her mother. And shortly after her marriage to husband, Jon, he became a Christian and felt God calling him into fulltime ministry. It wasn’t long before Jon’s entire family came to know the Lord as well through Lacy and Jon’s faithful service to Christ and to the community.

As she continued to mature in her faith, Lacy had recurring, poignant memories of past friends in both high school and college who had chosen abortion. When John Tabor came to speak at Lacy’s church, she knew instantly that God was calling her to the ministry of the Crisis Pregnancy Centers.

The question was, “How could she help?” Lacy had three small children at home and knew she couldn’t devote a lot of time away from them. The answer soon came from one of the center directors who suggested that Lacy become a member of the Board. It was the perfect fit – for Lacy and for the Crisis Pregnancy Centers.

Five years later, Lacy is now President of our Board and has two of her children involved in our Breakdown ministry, sharing with their peers God’s message of purity and love. For Lacy, she finds her heart especially connected to the post-abortive women served by the Crisis Pregnancy Centers. She remembers the faces of friends who chose abortion and knows how this aspect of our ministry shows women a powerful God who moves in forgiveness, mercy, and hope.

When asked what it means to be the board President of a pro-life ministry, Lacy responds from her heart. “Being pro-life is being a follower of Christ, appreciating God as the giver of life. We aren’t a people who have a political agenda. We are a people who honor God for what He has done to make life sacred.”

Your gift today makes it possible for the work of volunteers like Lacy to reach more women through the ministry of the Crisis Pregnancy Centers. Thank you for giving today!
